Front Patterns for Women

For the Upper Torso the Above Bust Dart is used to adjust the grain of the fabric at the full bust so it is parallel to the floor. The Lower Bust Dart adjusts the grain of the fabric so the side front is perpendicular to the floor.

For the Lower Torso women may need darts for the tummy and a second at side front to accomodate the shape of the pelvic bone as seen in the Side Front photo. Because the Lower Torso is gradually shaped these darts can be evenly spaced between Center Front and the Side Seam.
