by Don McCunn Scale RulersI developed a PDF file with scale rulers for people who are not fond of doing division and math in the head. The scales include: 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, 1/5 1/6, 1/8, and the circumference of a circle. For example to draft a Sleeve Cap, the Biceps line needs to be divided into 6 equal parts. The full length of the Biceps line can be measured then the 1/6 scale can be used to draw in the required vertical reference lines along the Biceps line. One set of rulers is in inches and the other is in centimeters. The pages can be printed either on copy paper or on self-adhesive paper that can be applied to a stiff board that is 22" long. They are designed as two separate rulers that can be joined together with a pivot screw. ![]() The video below shows how a scale ruler can be used to scale down a pattern from full size to quarter scale.
