Skirt Variations

Once you have created a Sloper for a Skirt you can create a variety of different styles using this Sloper. Week Three of the Lower Torso (aka Skirt) class shows how to create patterns for the styles shown. Sewing instructions are included for creating these garments.

Class Examples

Fitted Skirt Dirndl Skirt Bubble Skirt Handkerchief Hem Skirt
This fitted skirt is made directly from the sloper pattern without any changes. This is a Dirndl skirt cut from a rectangle of fabric. It is gathered into an elasticized waist. This is a bubble skirt with a straight underskirt and a flared out skirt. The longer hem of the outer skirt is sewn to the shorter hem of the underskirt. The handkerchief hem skirt is cut from a single piece of fabric. This could be created as a circular skirt.
A-Line Skirt Pleated Skirt Pencil Skirt Leather Skirt
This A-Line skirt has a contoured waistband. It is flared at the hem with no gathers. This pleated skirt is inspired by the St. Paulie ads. The pleat is sewn so reveal more of the inside of the pleat when the wearer moves. This pencil skirt uses a contoured waistband and is tapered at the hem. The instructions for this skirt describe how to create a kick pleat and a fully lined skirt. This fitted leather skirt has a waistband/yoke that follows the contours of the body eliminating the need for darts. Instructions for sewing leather are included in the course.
